Every year millions of teenagers graduate from high school, embrace adulthood, and go on to lead happy, productive lives. That’s great and all, but Justin Davis thinks this is a complete load.

Withdrawn and perpetually anxious, Justin begins senior year completely overwhelmed by thoughts of life after high school. Up until now he’s been able to coast through life without any complications. He’s managed to pass all his classes, he has just enough friends to not eat alone at lunch and, quite frankly, he’s come to accept things just as they are dismal. But after seventeen years of coasting, Justin meets two guys determined to ruin everything.

With constant meddling from his nosy new friend Travis, Justin finally has to learn to own his bisexuality, connect with friends he didn’t know he had, and even get closer to his crush, Evan—a shy yet equally meddlesome junior.

In this YA, coming-of-age novel, follow one boy’s struggle to embrace life’s complications and realize that ignoring life is much more difficult than living it. Especially when best friends don’t leave you any other choice.

Teenage Rewrite eBook Brandon Williams Erin Stropes

It has been over 50 years for me, but I remember graduating better now than when trying to live it the first time. I still have contacts that are in school or recently graduated, and this book just fits for everyone who will admit how messed up their lives are and how scared of the future they are.

Everything is confused chaos of the unexpected blending friends, family, relatives, lovers, enemies, leaders, teachers, employers, and officials together into something that vaguely surrounds us in life as we trip through the physical and emotional networks that hold everything together. This book admires the absurdity of high school and the fake dreams of college versus the bad realities of limited education and life opportunities. It highlights the struggles and the feelings of dealing with family and friends who want the best for you while the rest of the world for the most part does not care.

It seems that the plot succeeds in getting Justin on the right track to success, but in reality there is no track to follow. Only a slow air current allowing you to drift suspended in the hopes of others for you, and your dreams for them. A butterfly can change your direction out of your imaginary control to drive you to new heights of dash you upon the rocks below. Planning ahead is impossibly ineffective, but better than just following the currents of living. Just be yourself. Justin be yourself. Just in time be yourself. Just be free.

Teenage Rewrite eBook Brandon Williams Erin Stropes Reviews

Great, especially as a first novel from the author. Quick and easy read, since it's relatable and evokes several emotions throughout the whole book - I felt sympathy and empathy for Justin, was saddened at some parts (even shed a couple tears), laughed out loud at others, and it made me miss my home in the Pacific Northwest as well! Keep up the good work, I'll be watching for your next novel Mr. Williams.
Teenage Rewrite offers a very accurate depiction of the experiences (both the trials and triumphs) of a young bisexual man. Brandon Williams offers a somewhat intellectual tale in the sense that there is a protagonist but no truly defined antagonist. If you are young and questioning (or know someone who is), Teenage Rewrite would be an excellent choice to help them over the hump. It is also an excellent choice to educate others on the topic of human sexuality. Frankly, I wish I'd had such books at my disposal as a teenager.
Love this book!!! Very true to life, very, Very funny. Williams has obviously has a lot of respect for his characters as well as his readers. I love Justin and Evan. I love Travis. These characters are complex and very real. I couldn't help but fall in love with this book. I read it on my kindle this summer at the cafes of Portland and beaches of the Oregon Coast. Reading this made everywhere I went seem charged with romance. So fun to fall into this story.
Too perfect, i felt like it had no conflict and nothing to resolve. In fact, the main character effortlessly drifts through each event and comes out completely unchanged except that his life just keeps getting better. I felt like I was missing the point. Sorry 😓
This new author of gay teenage romance has made a tremendous start, The characters are clearly drawn, the difficulties and traumas of high school are realistically portrayed. The story is about a relationship between gay teen boys, their parents and their circle of friends. The story is believable and realistic....the sex part of the relationship, as in all great novels, is alluded to and left to the imagination of the reader.

I eagerly await volume two. This book left off with freshman dormitory move in day away at college and the new found friends.
Justin 17, the narrator, is entering Year 12, when in a class he sees Evan, a boy new to his school. Justin has been telling all enquirers that he is bi. The reader begins to suspect that in this description he is " hedging his bets" because on first sight of Evan, Justin is magnetically attracted to him. The remainder of the narrative follows the development of the gay relationship between the two, who become boyfriends and so give each other an answer to their desires. The events of the novel are consistently treated in a light manner; and personally I found this story to be almost always told with humour. The author has a knack of evoking the vagaries and down to earth behaviour of adolescents, including the deceits they practice upon each other as well as their affectionate behaviours, telling each other what is really going on, when they would not tell their parents. Platonic friendships are also important to Justin and help him to develop broader perspectives on life and give rise to amusing anecdotes. Bravo! Well done!
I enjoy this writer's style quite a bit, it's easy to read and easy to put yourself into his world, so you care about ten characters and want good things to happen to them. Depictions of the interpersonal relationships and interactions are real world and genuine. I'd like to read more by this author
